Hello friends,
I am running into an issue with the dispatcher. I get an error saying dispatcher still initializing.

My OS is XP Pro with SP2
DB -- MSSQL server personal edition (setup with SQL server and windows authentication)

Is there an issue with the personal edition (SQL server)?

can somebody throw some light on the issue.

Thanks and regards,
Ram.

Look in C:\Program Files\cognos\crn\logs\crnsever.log. It will be a little tough to read, but the error should be towards the bottom.

Also make sure the tables are all being created in SQL server, not sure if it will work with personal. If not, try running the create scripts manually. They are in C:\Program Files\cognos\crn\configuration\schemas\content\sqlserver.

Hi xoopus,

Thanks for the reply. I had also gone thru some threads discussing the same problem.

The tables are not created. I made sure that all the cofiguation settings are correct. Let me tell you what I have done, so u can point out any mistakes in the process.

I installed SQL server 2000 personal edition and set the authentication to windows and SQL mode. Created a database named "cm".
Its my personal computer and i'm working as the administrator, so there shud'nt be any problems with the user right assingments.

I have the IIS server up and running.

Then I installed reportnet and configured. In the content store, I named the database as "cm" and changed the username and password to the ones I used with SQL authentication.

Created the virtual directories in the appropraite locations.

Started reprotnet service.

-----------------------------------------------------

I also disabled the windows firewall to make sure no ports are blocked.
But still I get the error :-(

------------------------------------------------------

And finally, is there any order to run the scripts manually. There seem to be a lot in that folder u mentioned.

Thanks again,
ram.

Hi,

I found the solution. Everything I did was correct except that , reportnet dosen't work with SQL server 2000 personal edition.

I installed evaluation edition and everthing went on perfect.

Hi, I have same issue with you and it really pullzed me much. I searched the previrous forums and other site, it seems that the reason majorlly resides on the sql server 2000 side, such as rollback segments offline or login in account error etc.

So I am going to reinstall a instance of sql server 2000 and remove old one.

I used the enterprise edition of sql server 2000. Hoplly it will work.

You've probably solved it by now, but I wonder if you've got enough RAM on the server where the dispatcher is installed. I had that one once on my pc.

It works with SQL Server 2000, you need to apply the patch for sqlserver after upgrading XP to SP2 and then in firewall settings enter some settings. You can find the details on microsoft website.
