QUICK QUESTION CHECKOUT/CHECKIN

Hi

If I do a backup and then CHECKOUT the volume and then later CHECKIN (ADD VOLUME)same volume, I notice that the Last Use column is empty now, it said data before the checkout. My question is does checking in and out volumes delete the actual data from the volume, like format the tape ?

when you do a checkin you do status=private, right?

Yes sir I check them back in as Private

checkout libv 3584_LIB L00022L3 checkl=yes rem=bulk

checkin libv 3584_LIB L00022L3 checkl=yes status=private

L00004L3 Private TSM-SERVER Data 1,249 LTO 417
L00005L3 Private TSM-SERVER 1,236 LTO 417


Notice how the top one says DATA but the one I checked out and back in says nothing, just like the other blacks or scratch

Oh... don't worry about that .. I think I have seen the same thing on my system.. I think as soon as the volume is accessed it will show... you can try by restoring a file or something from that tape.
