i guess what i mean is, is there a tracking system that will show if one or more users are on the same license? like, if someone was stealing my copy of the os system.
If you are asking because you want to install the OS on more systems than the EULA allows - - watch out.
Apple employs some methods in its software to limit piracy. While these methods may not seem to appear in the OS now, the same anti-piracy tactics used in their pro apps may transfer to the OS in future updates or upgrades.
I suspect that Apple does not physically limit OS installations like Windows because Apple is selling you the hardware and they also seek market proliferation with their OS. Microsoft must limit their OS to a serialized license as their software can be loaded on any manufacturer's hardware.
- - I hope this helps - - (Complain to someone else if it doesn't)
Apple doesn't hand out unique serial #'s on the desktop version of OS X at this time. The pro version, however, does have serial numbers / activation keys similar to those used by Windows.
feasty -
Hopefully, you're not thinking of sharing your copy of OS-X with someone, and not thinking of using someone else's copy to install on your machine. That's stealing.
