If we're setting up a remote location with landline phones, would it be possible to attach an extension that forwards to a phone number? I assume this is what outdialing is all about but I'm quite new at this. Any help appreciated.

No outdial is out of a mail box. You want to enable N to Y Line redirect for that extention. That setting is under capibilities for that set. Then just forward the phone to the external #.Mite need to put # in with a 9.Every call to the phone internal or external will be forwarded.

Ah yes, I was just realizing this. Although, it looks as though I need a physical phone attached to make this work, could that be true??

I just read this from another thread, but it seems like there should be a better way:

"
Well, you can go plug a phone into a jack and temporarily punch it down on the pair appropriate for the virtual extension i.e.. 300. Then assign the target line for that person's personal DID to the phone. Then do a line redirect (Feature 84), press the target line button, then press the IC button, then your destination code to get out (9), then the number you want to forward the calls to (cell phone or other outside number).
You can then remove the phone and the cross-connects and proceed with the next number.
