Count of hands....who's tired of defaulted IPO's booting up in Quick Mode??? Anyone heard whether this is changing withe R8? Thanks.

I don't use it, it actually fits one of our main customers perfectly especially with Web based management coming with R8, but I will still never use it.

I do an offline Create config and save it to the SD card beofre first boot so I don't need to change mode :)

Although we have not yet used it, I don't see that booting in Quick Mode is a huge hardship. Change and reboot - adds two minutes to the process.

My take is if the customer has Preferred Edition they've paid enough.

I have looked at mupped mode once and i really hate it.
I also have a default Config.cfg which i put on the card after recreating it.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

the worst part is that it comes up as DHCP server after changing the mode and screws up the network if you are not careful and make it something else but server

When changing form muppet mode to ipo mode then yes the DHCP server is turned on but it it does not give you an ipaddress because it is set to 0!!!!

Going from memory but doesn't quick mode come up in client mode? ugh

In NA, we use quick mode for the current Partner ACS customer base that wants to upgrade but requires the simple key functionality and Partner features they are used too. Usually this customer is smaller, 4-6 lines and 8-30 phones total. Works quite well for these customer-types once you get used to how to program it.

On another note, 1416's have been quite popular lately in all our smaller IP office installs. It wins us bids to price sensitive customers and the price point and ease of use of seeing 16 buttons at once works great. My question is; Is anyone putting in the 1616 and 1608 for IP Office installs? We avoid those like the plague. I had a 1616 on my desk to try out and I would hear little pops and hics during calls and putting a 5610 or 9650 was flawless in quality so we've just always avoided the 1600 series. The 96xx (and yes even the discontinued 56xx) are so much better. I'd really like the 9608 if they would get it fixed up and off Sales Hold.

just change the IPO to a Cm and the 1616 works great :)

I have a few customers with the 1616 and 1608 phones and they are not complaining, but they all have PRI or SIP lines not analog lines, I know that with analog lines they are no good but so are all other IP sets not great as it is the IPO that can cause problems with certain line attributes.

Yes it does but after changing it back to IPO mode then the DHCP is turned on but the amount of DHCP clients is zero.

I am not sure if that is the case for north american locale as I seem to remember that it comes up with 200 DHCP addresses but I can't try it out I am on holidays this week

I defaulted a unit, recreated the card and put the SD card in the system.
I rebooted it and then it was in quick mode.
Then i changed mode.
It came back on UK locale (default with an Alaw card) and with DHCP on but 0 clients on both lan ports.
