Working on a friends PC via email. Had him run the normal tools (CWS, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster, Spyware Guard) and then he sent me this log:

The items I have bolded either I don't know about or need to be fixed. Your suggestions please...

Thanks in advance...

Terry

I think you've done a thorough and good read. I can't take difference with anything you've chosen to highlight. I would add, if you're going to eliminate the WeatherBug junk - which I would - then also include this entry:

O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug (HKCU)

As for the activex entries, I am of the philosophy that when in doubt, any and all can go. If/when you need them, you'll be prompted to reinstall.

Thanks Carrr. The only change I have come across is the following line:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE

I found out this is a Lexmark printer driver.

I trust your input on these logs better than mine, so I will go ahead and have him delete what I selected.

Thanks again and have a star...

Terry

Nice catch...I totally overlooked that entry.
I - out of habit - jump straight into the "meat."
I would also, now that you've drawn my attention to the "upper realms" of the log, leave the rundll32 entries alone...those are valid system processes...
