I have just purchased and installed McAfee Quick Clean, Version 2.0. The installation went without a hitch but I can not run the program.
All the folders are there and contain all the icons described in the manual, but double clicking the "Quick Clean" icon does nothing, same with "start."
I've checked all the McAfee on line help and there is no mention of this glitch. I emailed the ‘support' people but have no response to date.
I figured that somebody on Tek-Tips has probably had the same problem and will respond before the McAfee support.

Probably too late for you now, but for the multitude of others out there looking for the answer.....

Summary: This document provides instructions and a link to resolve the Central not loading when clicking on the shortcut. This issue is resolved by applying the McAfee Central patch located at the address below.

Central Doesn’t Open When I Run the Program

Affected Versions
McAfee VirusScan 6 and McAfee VirusScan Professional 6
McAfee Internet Security 4
McAfee Firewall 3
McAfee Quick Clean 2
Description

McAfee VirusScan is used as an example. The McAfee VirusScan Home page fails to load after installing VirusScan on International English versions of Windows. This is usually caused when installing a McAfee product on an operating system not set on English(US), for example English(UK).

When would I need this workaround?

When you try to open run the program it flashes a window and disappears or Central never opens. Opening the central.log file in c:\Program Files\McAfee\McAfee Shared Components\Central (NOTE: This is the default installation folder) and see the following message: “Central: Unable to load Cent.dll”. (You may not see the error message)
Search your machine for the Centenu.dll file. If it is either not anywhere on your system or not in c:\Program Files\McAfee\McAfee Shared Components\Central folder, do the following:
Installing the Centenu.dll file
Download the CentENU.exe file at Choose Save file to Disk (This means your harddrive)
Click on the little Desktop Icon located in the Top Right of the Save in Window.
Click Save.

When the download is finished, double click on the CentENU.exe icon that is now located on your PC desktop. (NOTE: This will be installed to the C:\Program Files\McAfee\McAfee Shared Components\Central folder this is the default installation folder)
You should be able to open VirusScan Central now.

Help! I am getting this message when I double-click the V-Shield of VirusScan 6.0 (upgraded to v6.02.1019):

2.31.1139 is the wrong version of McAfee Central ( 'C:\Program Files\McAfee\McAfee Shared Components\Central\Central.dll' ). The expected version is at least 2.31.1140.0.

Where can I download this other version (or clear this thing up so my VirusScan stuff can work)? If anyone can provide me with a link or something, that would be fantastic.

Oh and I am new here.
