Quick but possible stupid question

Hey everyone.

I'm re-designing my website and what I'd like to do is have scrollable box in the middle of the page that would hold the content. I've seen them used before but I'm not sure what they are? Has anyone used these? Is it worth the effort?

I believe what you have seen are iframes. They are not too difficult to set up.
