Quick BCM 450 Keycode Question About Adding More Than The Max

Quick BCM 450 question:

Have a BCM which has 32 seats on it.. the max is 50.. Will the KRS accept another auth sheet that is a 32 (it's what I have in stock) and just max it out at 50, or will it not take the code?

Thanks

Max out what.

32seats of what.

32seat auth code of what.

What licence us it.

Not sure that it matters but ICC skill sets.

But I'd be curious just in general what will happen.

Yea I've done 32 on a call pilot 100 and it just maxes it at 40.

The keycode system is more complex on the 50's and 450's now though ya know? I'm curious if the KRS will even take the auth code.

Guess we will just need to wait for someone to chime in who has tried it on a BCM 450 or 50.

This is actually something I have wondered in the past, just never tried it or found the answer. Like if a BCM 50 has 4 digital stations and you try and activate a 12-port auth.

It will reject it with the error of something like exceeding the limit.

A couple years ago I was rejected on a BCM50 when I gave a vendor a 12 digital station seat when I already had 8 installed. So I agree with above poster that it will actually reject a code that results in an over-provisioning.

I mean that it rejected an 8 seat when I already had 6 installed because the BCM50s internal limit on digital stations is 12.

I saw an old document on BCM and KRS and it did refer to some license and capacity checking that is done when you try and add on anymore units so that you couldn't have more than what it was designed for.

NO it is not possible, KRS may accept at fist stage the authcode when it does the validation but if you proceed to keycode generation then it will not generate the keycode but it will bring an error saying Feature_Maximum_Limit= XXX where XXX is the actual BCM limit for the feature you try to activate.
