My routers are all currently running 12.4 Main and there is nothing to do with ATM in the IOS.. No option..
I am running this IOS...
c3640-i-mz.124-16

I am thinking that this is the feature that I need in order to work with ATM.. I have a pair of ATM cards..
*ATM Routed Bridge Encapsulation (RBE)*

Is this what I am looking for in an IOS?
RBE can be seen on feature navigator with this IOS..
c3640-jk9s-mz.124-16

If this is not what I am looking for then can someone give me some input as to what IOS for the 3640 can do this???

Thanks in advance guys!!! Have to upgrade router memory and flash for this so want to be sure.. that is why I am not testing out IOSs! Thanks again!!!

By the way, these are the cards that I have...
NM-4T1-IMA Module 4-Port T1 Inverse Multiplex ATM

I am wondering if this is the feature if not the other...
ATM Multilink PPP Support on Multiple VC's

Just because it would give me the PPP yes?

well..my first thought was "why would you want to do anything with ATM"....then I realized, if I had the cards and could, the answer is "because you can".

I think that is the code you want, but I think you also want the ATM PVCs feature.

This Cisco link on the subject keeps referencing commands that were included in release 12.0(5)T... This release only offers ATM-DXI in the base version and the Enterprise offers ATM-DXI as well as an ATM-LANE feature if you check the Cisco Feature Navigator. Does this mean that I need the ATM-DXI feature?

OK.. Just looking for confirmation here.. I have FINALLY.. LoL located a compatibility chart and it does reference 12.0(5)T Plus Feature set... The link is here.. This is a short document with a huge table about half way through that lists routers and feature sets.. I have a 3640 router..

My question..If you look at the features of 12.0(5) Enterprise Plus then you will see only four ATM features..

ATM Lane: ATM LANE Fast Simple Server Redundancy Protocol (LANE Fast SSRP) and

ATM DXI: ATM-DXI creates an interface or connection between a data terminal equipment (DTE) and a data circuit-terminating equipment (DCE). In the case of ATM-DXI, the router's serial interface is the DTE, and an ATM data service unit (ADSU) is the DCE. An ADSU is a special DSU that is capable of converting outgoing packets into ATM cells and reassembling incoming ATM cells into packets. Both serial and High-Speed Serial Interfaces (HSSIs) can be configured with ATM-DXI encapsulation.

PPP Over ATM: Allows termination of mult. PPP connections on a router ATM interface. Each connection requires an ATM PVC. Remote PPP devices will be connected w/ leased lines to Stratacom AXIS shelf, & aggregated into single ATM connection to the central site router.

Inverse Multiplexing over ATM[/b}: Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA) involves inverse multiplexing and de-multiplexing of ATM cells in a cyclical fashion among physical links grouped to form a higher-bandwidth, logical link. The rate of the logical link is approximately the sum of the rate of the physical links in the IMA group.

When I cross this with the Cisco feature navigator (Which is freaking AWESOME) I get this!!! (Newest addition which I already have that also supports security features.. c3640-jk9s-mz.124-16.bin ... Did I do this correctly???

Just need to max the routers out (Flash/DRAM)

Currently they look like this..

1. 128/16
2. 64/16
3. 64/16

I think I am gonna buy this kit or one like it plus another 16mb flash card!

That will max it out then I can upgrade them to c3640-jk9s-mz.124-16 and play with the Security as well as the ATM and pretty much everything else!!! I think! LoL

You maxing out all your routers and building your lab reminds me of Pinky and the Brain...
"what are we gonna do tomorrow night, Brain?"

Ha Ha!!! I had another thought as I was researching this stuff on a good topic that could be ellaborated on in the Network Academy. Will start a new post later!!!
