I've got a customer that what's to use floor plan, but also still wants to be able to use tabs, for people patrons who may be hanging around, having a beer while they're waiting for tables, etc. Is this possible? There was a dicussion in a previous post that said checking the Sees Tabs button will render the tables in operable.

In some respects, I know this also defeats the purpose of what customers like about the floorplan... that servers cant screw up table numbers. But I have to admit, they have a fairly legitimate reason for wanting both.

Thanks,
A

In case this wasn't clear in the previous post, the customer has requested the use of TABS and the floor plan for the same job code, at the same time. In other words, in the event that a server does not wish to use a table on the floorplan, they can go to the Working With Tables Screen, and hit new order, and then be prompted for a tab name. Am I correct in thinking that Aloha will NOT allow this?

Sorry if I was redundant here... just wanted to make question was clear.

Thanks Bo, didnt think so.

The customer says he has Cocktail Waitresses, and they sometimes wait on both tables and individual people who might be at the bar or waiting for a table to open. Currently, they log in as normal servers, which was not an issue until they started using Floorplan and had to say goodbye to tab names. So, my suggestion is going to be that he create a new job code, called Cocktail Waitress, and simply not assign it a floorplan. Any server that performs both functions can have both job codes assigned to them, and log in according to their job function that day. Unfortunately, I think that I am going to catch some flak for telling him the system cannot do both simultaneously.

Any other ideas on a different work around?

Sorry for scatter brained post here, but I had another thought. Is there a way to add a description to or rename a table that was first assigned a number? Here was my line of thinking... I could assign some table numbers far outside the range of the ones by the floorplan. They could be used exclusively for these Cocktail Waitresses. IF there was some way to rename the tab or even use one of the functions to add comments, it would sort of be like tabs. I know it's hokey, but I've got to give the customer some options.
