These are questions relating to Java applets and applications, does someone know where I can find answers to these questions?

Describe the restrictions that are placed on applets and applications (if there are any) affecting:

1. how long the program can run on the user’s machine
2. whether or not files can be modified on the user’s machine
3. if there are special files, what are they and what information do they hold?

thanks

Applets are heavily restricted, go to and have a look around; from the horses mouth, so to speak.

What are the main differences between Applets and servlets? pl explain me with examples.

Thanks in Advance
Suresh

Applets run in a GUI in the user's browser. They are embedded in an HTML page. The user's browser must support applets. The server doesn't care.

Servlets run on the server, and they generate web content. (Or so I believe.) Your web server must support servlets. The browser doesn't care.

If other folks find this to be incorrect, please let me know.
