Hi All,

I just have a few questions about IIS.

I have just installed Visual Studio.NET Architecture Enterprise on my Laptop running Windows XP. I want to be able to create Web Applications using .NET however I need IIS to be installed.

Am I able to install IIS on XP and what is the new version? Or does it only come with Windows 2000?

If I can install this on XP, where can I get a copy to install? Any information or pointing me in the right direction will be greatly helpful.

Also how big is the IIS installation file?

Thanks
Anthony

IIS comes on the windows XP disk. You have to go to the add/remove programs in the control panel, and add or remove windows components. You cant download version 6 that comes with windows server 2003. The add/remove windows components will tell you how much space is required.

Oh, one other thing....XP´s IIS is limited to serving one website, usually just for testing purposes.

If it has a limit of serving just one website, will this enough for testing several web applications at different times. Also is this the same limit as found on Windows 2000?

You can set up several virtual directories, and put each application in its own virtual directory. I´m not sure about win2k´s limits, but windows 2000 server edition is unlimited.

Just one thing on the limits of IIS server/workstation as I was reading this and it sounds confused.

2K Pro/XP You can only have one website but loads of v dirs
2k server and above server versions as far as I know (i got an MCP in IIS) you can have as many sites as you like.

also remember, for the workstation OS (ie. XP and Win2000 pro) you are limited 10 concurrent connection, so if other people try to connect to the box, make sure they take a number
