Questions for Windows 2000 Experts and Gurus

Hello!

I need help with Windows 2000 because I am new to it. I need help in figuring out the following:

1. We need an additional server added quickly to our network. An old workstation is available that meets the hardware and memory requirements.

However, the system CMOS will only permit a boot sequence of A: C:.

A. Please list at least two options that are available to install the software.

B. How can I create the server installation boot disks?

2. We have a workgroup Alpha that is being created for a special research project. Members of this group must be able to create and share data with each other for
collaboration purposes over the network. The network is configured as a domain, employing active directory, and is centrally administered.

A. What steps must be taken to add this group to the network once the members are selected?

B. What permissions do the group members need?

C. How would I enable network file and directory collaboration among group members?

D. The workstations normally used by group members include Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and 98 operating systems. Will this have any impact on the group?

you dont need to create a bootdisk... just boot from any win98, win95 boot disk with cd-rom support.

Load the 2000 Server cd rom into a working computer. Go to the command prompt. Change the the cd-rom drive, then go to bootdisk. makeboot.exe will create you 4 bootdisk for 2000 server.

Just go to Active Directory, and create the group, selelct the users you want and add it. As for rights, it depends on what there doing. If it's not confidential, then the domain users that are automatically added will work. C I'm not sure about, and I don't think 3.1 can be used, but I could be wrong. Glen A. Johnson
