Hello all out there,

You, who workes with installation MD110 on customers sites,
is there anything you are missing, want to be added or want to be changed concerning the system dumps that are delivered with the systems.

Anything about the firmwares??

It would be a great help to get feedback from you concerning
this matters.

If you are concerned about these matters you can possibilly answer my qustion too.
When we order a MD110 system, how can we sure that APS is loaded in the HDU/NIU2?

Hello PDFMAN,
For all new systems delivered from the factory there
is a systemdump made that is loaded on HDU or flashdisk ( NIU2 ).
1:HDU, there is a label connected to the HDU that tells you.
2:NIU2, just plug in the system and it will start loading up from the systemdump.

Thanks Mdsup.
I think it will be helpful to have the latest FW available to be used as well. But I am surprised to see no comments to your query.
Good luck

Hi again:
We have recently received NIU2 for upgrading our system to BC12.We have also received other cards.Due to the distributers fault the flash memory `was `received separately as spare parts so it has no systemdump(I suppose) .Alex does not help in adcising on how to load the flash with APS.
Can you please help on this one.I suppose I have to use MDDT or MDinventory from SAM 3.7.
Thanks and Regards in advance.

I have one BIG complaint about the MD110. since BC11, and now BC12 the number of times you must load firmware has grown. the most ***cking part is loading firmware onto 4000 series phones. one ELU28 with 16 extensions takes about 20 minutes. whe have one site with 800 extension like this. do the calculation yourself : 50 boards times 20 minutes or almost 17 hours(!!!) of firmware loading. this is becoming unacceptable, moreover, the process itself
is unstable as hell : some boards are skipped, other times extension are skipped or they become blocked and unusable (must do a hardware reset do revive them). since we do this via remote, with 95% of our customers you can easily see this is becomming a BIG problem....
I would wish that E/// would think twice before releasing a SP and would do more QUALITY testing , thus resulting in less SP, which means less headaches for me, and even less headaches for my customers who are fed up with ANOTHER service pack... .

enough ranting for today

I couldn't agree more whosdaddy .

I feel that second line work is more doing upgrades,
studying faultreports and slogans now more than ever before .

I felt that this started in bc10 with niu ,
integrated dect,personal number/free seat etc.
And ever since new functionality has been
added it has been getting just worse.

A good example is the NIU board ,how many years has
it been on the market, 5years in may (1999-05-18 release bc10 cni120), and it isn't before resently
the ethernet appl. implementation like e.g gici has gotten reliable .

The possibility to upgrade DTS phones is nice to have,
but the released sw should be bug free.
So that upgrades could be optional if wanting to add new features and such.
Your example is horrific , do you really need to do it ?

uh, offcourse we must do it, customer complains about their extensions (don't remember what problems, but they HAVE problems) and only solution was to load firmware to solve some of those problems. It's becoming hopeless, you know, since SP3 is ready being released, I can only hold my breath hoping there's no firmware released with it (I'm too lazy to check this myself for the moment [spin])

heads up syar :))

Hello PDFMAN,
You can load the INL to the Compact flash by using your computer, LAN-cabels and a HUB.
( if you don't have a twisted cable )
and a program to connect via FTP
( ex:wincommander )

If you don't have a test system to use for creation
of filesystem you can create filsystems by using NIUX commands.

This is the way to change IP-address on your computer.
Right click on " my networkplaces "
Choose " properties "
Right click " local area connection "
Choose " properties "
Choose " internet protocoll "
Choose " properties "
Mark " Use the following IP-address "
Write the IP-address in the following way
ex:010.210.015.027
also write subnetmask and default gateway.

You should not have the same IP-address on NIU2
but the same subnetmask and default gateway.
ex NIU2: 010.210.015.028

If you need further guideance don't hesitate to ask.

Whosrdaddy and Syar,
I have sent your complains to Ericsson.
As soon as I get a response to this I will let you know.

MDsup

Whosdaddy , you could alway try to send an invoice
to Ericsson of the work .hehe .

Mdsup , i think whosdaddy is correct about that ///
knows this very good.

Another thing that has been very frustrating
is the integrated voice mail IVM .
Corrupted file system resulting in a wipe of the IVM hdu
over and over again. Format , new prompts , user loose
all their recordings etc , grrr.
This fault existed for years .

Work with this almost never is correctable remote
as we don't waste an permanent ethernet port and ip-address
for this card(s) and a v.24 modem connection.
This IVM solution has been a nightmare...

Syar

syar, don't break my mouth open, IVM is only one of those things, integrated mobility is another such thing that isn't working like it should for many years now....
but I'll stop here or else we would scare some customers away :))

[hammer]

Well , okay .
Whosd.. se the top left of the page .
"Tecnical work forums for computer professionals"
Md forum MD professionals i guess.
I really don't think we should censore ourself if we
have some fault related to discuss .

Anyway to all others that reads this the IVM problem is solved.

Syar

syar/whosrdaddy : I would love to see you to guys as designers .... you seem to know everything about how it should not work .
I guess noone would even buy the MD110 if that was the case :)

[lol]

If we were we would have to be more diplomatic i guess .

Hello Syar and Whosrdaddy,
I have got an answer from E:
Concerning loading phones they are aware that this take a while and they are trying to find a way to shorten the time.
They also sad that you can load the LIMs in parallell,
but I gues you know that.
