Hi everyone,

I work at a small non IT company. I'm one of two programmers. Recently we had a problem with SourceSafe. I made a code change but noticed the code was about three months old. I had made changes to the code since then. I looked in SourceSafe at the history but the latest file was dated April 1 2004. Luckily we keep a full backup when a new version is produced, so the code was recovered. I'm not sure what happened but would like to prevent this from happening in the future. Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do to prevent this this in the future?

Each of us has a stand alone version of SourceSafe installed on our local machines, pointed at the database that is kept on a local server. Should we have the Database server installed on the server and clients on our local machines? What would be the advantage of this?

any help would be appreciated.

thanks
