Hi,

I am trying to figure out what I need to get set up, and wanted to know if you could help.

We have about 10 users spread across 2 location and NO domain (the offices do not talk to each other network wise). Its all a workgroup at both offices.

We are looking at buying a new server with Server 2008 on it so we can set it up as a terminal services box for RemoteApp (for Quickbooks Enterprise Edition). I read some other information that mentions we need 2 servers, but that is not really in the budget.

Can we do this?

The users will have local account on the server if needed. They have local accounts right now to the desktops/laptops they use. SO bascially we have no Domain Controller/AD or anything.

Thank you!!

You can set up a new Windows 2008 server that is NOT domain-joined and install Terminal Services Licensing and Terminal Services on it. You can then install the licenses and then start configuring QuickBooks Enterprise. From there you can create additional local user accounts on the server that the users in your organization can use to log on. I did just read through all the deployment docs and didn't see any requirement that there be a domain environment for either the TS or the TS licensing, and I know that both roles can be installed on a single server.

Could you reference the document that you saw that made you think that you couldn't do this? I know that Remote Desktop Services and Terminal Services Gateway are separate related technologies--I'm just speaking of vanilla Terminal Services.
