What does LDAP integration actually do for you in an IP Office environment?

I'm uncertain if there's enough value to warrant trying to implement it, but I wanted to ask for a better understanding of what it would allow.

Can LDAP integration be used to simply authenticate user logins to One-X portal?

I'm not looking for automatic user creation, or updating user information in IP Office from AD. I'm just curious if this could be leveraged to allow One-X Portal to be effectively a single sign on authentication.

As far as I know, I don't think single sign-on with AD is supported with One-X. I know that SSO works with their Zang cloud service, tho.
