Hello all,

Running Aloha TS 6.5.xx in multiple units which all utilize RAL. It takes way too long for terms to come up after a refresh (terms do not reboot, just log off/on), up to 5 minutes or so. In previous companies that I worked for they did not utilize RAL just Iber.exe in the start menu. Was thinking of not utilizing RAL in a site and see what happens. If anyone has any experiences/info to share I would appreciate it. Thanks-

You can also look at you environment variable in RAL on the server to use logoff instead of reboot.

I don't like RAL. I had a problem on my last attempt to rescue a friend in need that had RAL installed. Trying to bypass it and run on a stand alone terminal was a problem because of the passwords and user restriction RAL inflicts on the terminals.

I had to re-imaging the terminals first then remove the RAL startup (old school style).

RAL is great for replacing terminals in (plain Jane) Aloha installs and for security but it comes with a cost (slow startups).

Cheers,
Coorsman
