Is there a logical way to work out the port/extension ID numbers?
Why do they not run in order?

Know how you feel.

However if youwant to check the port order click on + Extension on the tree so it expands. This gives you the ports in order as they apear on the modules note the first two are the POTs pots on the 403.

Thanks crashtest1000

This will make life much easier in future

Crashtest1000,

I've had a hard time figuring out the ports as well. I've notice on the 403, that the two pots are not the first two. They are even numbered, they are like (item 3 and 5 I think) spread out with the digital ports.

One thing I noticed too is that when it changes to another module the numbers change like from 123,124, to 130 or something.

the internal prts on the IPO systems (401 & 403) are iraticaly numbered as you have seen

the expansion modules are numbered in groups of 32.
unfortunatly although the alog & ds module are equiped with ports 1-30 the DT module appears to be equiped 0-29.

This means that the 1st port on an IP406 will be 66 if it is on a DT module & 67 if it is anything else. Normaly this is not a problem but if an Alog module is updraded to a DT module all the ports get renummbered moving the exts along by 1 port.

I have created a chart for my own use that references extID against the module port to make the process of identifying exts easier
