One option we thought of was going with a phone system that puts people on hold instead of having them leave message. blah blah has experienced a system that actually calls you back when your number comes up in the hold line."

is this possible with just one external user?

If so what phone system would be a good option?

anyone have anything like this?

Anything is possible.....if you throw money at it. I know Nortel systems can do this. You call into a ACD, call can be answered by an agent or auto attendant, then put into queue for the next available agent. Just takes money!

we just need this for one person at their house.

What did you miss? A call sequencer for one person is redundant. It requires at least 2 lines. Eddie pretty much nailed it when he said throw money at it. Order two lines and a call sequencer and write back. Then we can talk.

If I'm not reading too much in to his post he is looking to implement a system whereby you call in and it captures your number off caller-id and then returns the phone call - sort of like some modems do for security purposes. I could anticipate a need where the person at the house is trying to call the office and it is long distance - rather than being put on hold or leaving a message they want to have the system call the person back - possibly to save the person the LD charges.

This is just a guess.... I know you can implement callback with modems, but haven't heard of too many people implementing it for voice....

If LD charges are a problem they just give him a LD calling card, much cheaper than implementing callback etc on the switch

When I was born I was so suprised I didn't talk for 18 months

Consider purchasing a prepaid calling card to control your exposer to potential fraud if the calling card number was compromised.

hi all , im still looking for a users manual for the gsx 418/816, or the 21 button hand set

you will not get good coverage on your question when you coattail onto an existing discussion. people look at the start of a thread to see if it is of interest to them and if the thread is not in their area may not ever look at that thread again. when you post on the tail end of an existing discussion the only people what will see your post are the people that have decided to follow the discussion that is on the thread.

Why don't you post a new thread with your question and maybe more people will see it and you might be able to get the answer you are looking for.

basic rule of thumb is "New question - New thread"
