guys what do i need to turn vcr or dvd movies into mpeg, or avi files?. i want to be able to convert home maintenance movies into files that i can stream..any ideas?

You'll need a video capture card in your PC, fits in a PCI slot just like your soundcard. Plug your VCR into the inputs and the card does the rest - most output a raw .AVI file.

Osprey do good cards, also Winnov and Dazzle (not too expensive either. You'll need an editing package too if you want professional results - Premiere or Vegas Video or whatever...
