hey guys i just installed ikonboard on a site i'm doing..i notice all these guys are creating there own skins for iBv3..can someone help me understand exactly how to go about doing this..i can create my look and everything that i need..but which file would i alter? say for instance if you goto and view source on there board which one of those files would i alter to change the skin? would it be the ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi document?.. or is there a certain file inside the script that i would change?..a skin file maybe?..could someone please shed some light on my ignorance?..

also if ya wana see what i'm doing with it see

and click on forum..

now that site is no where near done and the buttons are all out of place i just uploaded a button real quick to call the file to see what it would look like inside that frameset..but i feel i will open it up in another window, but thats another story..like i said disregard the look of that site..it is work in progress..but i need to get this skin thing down and learn how to change it!!

oh yeh and i would also want to add a style attribute to change the color of the scroll bar..i also need to know which file to alter for that as well..also set it to 100% and scroll=no to see if i can fit it in that window on promaintenance or not without having to scroll it..probably won't happen but worth a shot anyways.. i know it would work at 1024/768 but 800/600 would be my concern..

sorry for rambling have a lot to do on this....thanks in advance........

Hi mate,

I have been considering this forum for one of my new sites I am putting up soon.

I have just read the user forums and found this:

"look in \iB3_UPLOAD\cgi-bin\Skin\Default\ for this file Universal.pm That's how I recreated my skin."

Now, notice that is a quote off the board so I am not sure if it is correct or not. Worth a try.

Let me know how you get on.

na wullie thats not it..will keep at it and let ya know what i find..

Hi mate,

I`ve just downloaded the script and had a quick look.

You mentioned the scrollbars, I think you can alter this is in cgi-bin/data/template.dat

Also looks like you would have to modify the ikonboard.cgi as well.

I haven`t used the script and my site is down so I can`t even try it to be sure.

I will keep looking and get back to you.
Wullie

ok wullie thanks...this is what i want to do so if you can figure it out i'll owe ya..i want my own logo..buttons and things like that..now i think that that is as easy as replacing the images in the images folder with my new ones as long as they are the same size and the same file name(re:logo.gif)..but where i will come into problems is i need to know which script to alter to change the actual bg color, and the rest of the forum colors..

Hi mate,

From looking at some of the files, it looks as though you can alter all the template code from the admin section of the board...

As I said before, I `ve never used this script so I couldn`t tell you if that is right but, the file settemplate.cgi has some html stating

"Welcome to the Ikonboard Admin Center"
And then a few lines down it has:
"You can edit all aspects of the template here."

That code looks like it must appear somewhere in the admin center but I`m sitting here drinking so I might have read it wrong...

Let me know how you get on.
Wullie

yes wullie everything for the most part can be edited from the admin cp...under styles...nice darn board man...these guys have made it very easy to work your own scheme in the board...

how do i set up my email for this error to go away:

Ikonboard CGI Error
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ikonboard has exited with the following error:

open |/usr/lib/sendmail -t -oi -oem: No such file or directory

This error was reported at: Sources/Lib/FUNC.pm line 1046

Ikonboard says...

Nothing of interest

Please note that your 'real' paths have been removed to protect your information.

this happens when i try to email a friend to come to the board option....

also have a look at what i've got so far..

Hi mate,

The forum is looking good. One thing I would suggest is to make the IB buttons(The cirles) transparent. I think it would look a lot better.

I`m no expert at cgi but are you sure the path to sendmail is correct?

Do you have any other scripts that use sendmail, try them and see if they are working..

As I said, I am no expert at cgi (In fact, I hardly know anything about it) LOL

Hope this helps mate,
Wullie

yeh i'm changing the ib buttons haven't made it that far yet..off to spend the day with the family..talk to ya later wullie..see if you can find and answer for that send mail for me..i've never used it so it's probably not set up right..

have a good day..

prohosting!!!!

Hi mate,

I`ve just checked out prohosting`s site and their sendmail is located at

/usr/sbin/sendmail

You need to change the sendmail to the above.

You will either have to change it in the admin(If possible) or have to look at the script file you are getting the error from. In this case Sources/Lib/FUNC.pm

If you get stuck give me a shout and I will have a look for you.

Hope this helps
Wullie
