QUESTION NO: 1
Which one of the statements below regarding classful and classless routing protocols is correct?

A. In a classful system, a router uses a bit mask to determine the network and host portions
of an address and there is no class restriction.
B. In a classless system, a router determines the class of an address and then identifies the
network and host octets based on that class.
C. In a classful system, subnet mask information is maintained and passed along with each
routing update.
D. In a classless system, when a routing update is received about a different major network
as configured on the receiving interface, the default subnet mask is applied.
E. In a classful system, when a routing update is received about the same major network as
configured on the receiving interface, the router applies the subnet mask configured on
the receiving interface.

E is the best answer since all the other answers reverse the classful and classless behaviors.

Andrey,

I agree with gwildfire - drop the Test King - it is full of typos and wrong answers. He has a great point - just take the questions and look them all up. Just think of the study guide you would have.

I had a class do that for an old A+ Troy Tech - (Troy Tech used to be what Test King is today until CompTIA and Microsoft shut them down) I gave each student 25 questions and they answered them with an explanation as well as the right answer. Then we put a study guide together for the whole group.

I passed the bsci exam and I am working on the next CCNP exam now.

I am using Cisco Press, Sybex and a CCNP book from McGraw Hill as well as the Cisco Cookbook and several others that are not specific for CCNP - general Cisco books on things like ACL, Switching, Troubleshooting, IOS etc.

I am also using CBT Nuggets and lots of hands on labs.

When I hit a topic I do not understand as much as I want I "google" it and see what is out on the Internet.

Once you have done all this then glance at the Test King if you want so that you are not surprized by anything - but you will know the answers because you understand the concept behind them - and you will make a GREAT CCNP.

I hope this helps!
