Hallo...a small stupid question..but i really am in need of answer from anybody.

I have drawn two lines in AutoCAD..both are in a definite angle suppose 30°.

now i want those both parallel. for example using Inventor ..we can just click a toolbar in menu( parallel ) and then clicking on both the lines bring them both to parallel..

is there any such method in AutoCAD just by clicking the required lines to be parallel.

please if anyone knows ..i will be thankfull.

List the line that you don't want to change to get the angle it was drawn on.

Then rotate the other line, pick a rotation point and when prompted type in R (for reference) then select both the endpoints and enter the angle given from the first line.

Or something to that effect. My computer crashed yesterday and I'm waiting for the IT guys to show up so I'm going by memory here.

Just offset the 1st line and delete the second.

Pete.

Thank you very much.

by offsetting the lines that would be really complex coz i have lots of lines in the drawing ..where in these lines r not parallel which are supposed to be.

now i wanna click the origin line to which the other lines are supposed to be parallel..and then select the rest of the lines.

thought that there would be some command for this like saying

"paralell"
Select the origin line to which the lines are to be paralell: Then we click on the line

select the line to be paralell : then we select the line

distance between them both to be : if we know the distance we give the distance..else blank space

i thought there would be some possiblity in this way in autoCAD even in 2006 but i dont know.

can anyone say if such thing exists.

thank you.

Hi Singhoi,

You might try the ALIGN command in 2006, it might do what you are looking for. Also, if you a using 2006, when you draw the lines, you can use the osnap PARALLEL to draw parallel lines.
