Greetings to the forum,

Hopefully someone can help me out with this.

Have a shared access database application. It is split into a data and a programming database. It is a shared database(s) with a small number of users.

Everything has been working fine up till now. Just recieved the following error when trying to add a new record to the main table. The error reads " Reserved Error - 1517 there is no message for this error".

My questions are:
1) How to recover from this?
2) What caused it?
3) How can I track it down and fix it so that it doesn't happen again.

Sincerely hoping that someone can help out.

Thanks

When no one is using the database, check in the folder where it resides and look for a file with extension .ldb (locking database). If all instances of the mdb are closed this file should not exist and needs to be deleted. Just a shot in the dark tho.....
Good Luck!

Like some other posts refer to, it has something to do with linked objects. Go into the Link Manager (by selecting a linked object and right clicking on it for the drop down menu and picking Link Manager) and then select each item individually, clicking on OK and see what the system tells you. In my case, a table in a remote database that I was linked to got renamed without anyone telling me for a query that I run nightly now for two years. Once that was resolved, the magical error went away.
Good Luck.
