I was wondering if I leave my wireless network open is there a way I can tell who is connected to it.

Thanks
Malik

Yes. You can see the ip address and then start invesigating it.

Yes I am using windows XP. The reason I wanted to know this is because I was having trouble with my wireless connection and the WEP key. So to secure my wireless network I used mac filtering, which is working well and makes my connection secure.

When I had my wireless connection open I was wondering if anybody else was using it. I asked around but a lot of people didn't know the answer. I can also show this to my current client base who has wireless and show them how to secure it. It was just another tool for my brains.

where your problems are our solutions!!!

If you can see the logs of your access points then you can see the IP address's of any connections then using a port scanner you can then start investigating the address (the fun bit) i.e. mac address, vulnerbilities, logged on user etc.

But the logs will tell you. Also check to see when the logs are deleted and by who as the access point may have been compromised.
