Hi,
I have built a sensor unit using an Arduino controller with builtin Wifi module, Shield and some sensors. I would like to deploy a few of these units (maybe around 20) around my community for free and was wondering if I need to get the following before I deploy them:
- liability insurance in case there is some problem with one of the units?
- FCC certification?

Thanks,
Jack

I can speak to the FCC part - If the WiFi module is already FCC certified, then you're covered, as long as it's not trying to use non-US channels. If the controller has the WiFi module built-in, I'd imagine it HAS to be certified already. There should be an FCC ID either on the device or maybe on the box it came in. You can search for those here: If the FCC ID is valid, then you're covered.

@LoPath, Thank you so much for the quick response. Is this a valid FCC certification? I am using the "Seeeduino Cloud - Arduino Yun compatible openWRT controller"

Thanks,
Jack

ECC ID does not equal FCC ID. I couldn't find an exact match for "Seeed Development Limited", but there is another company "Seeed Technology Co" that has 53 ID's registered. Maybe it's one of them? Click on the Advanced Search on the FCC link I gave you and just type in "Seeed" in the applicant name. The FCC ID's appear to somewhat match model numbers, so maybe that will get you there.

From what you're describing, this may be it. If so, the FCC ID is Z4T-LINKITS7688D. If not, you'd really have to check the FCC site to see which one it is. From the FCC site, you can view the user manuals, pictures, testing documents, etc.
