After much trial-and-error I finally got into the console of my WS-C5000 switch that I purchased online. (The link is: )
The problem is that it keeps looping some sort of an error message in console so that I don't even get to access the Console> prompt for more than like 2 seconds. Here are some links to some of the output:
Cisco3.txt is probably the best for seeing any errors. I even tried yanking out both ethernet cards and going into console. For some reason I get more time in the Console> prompt, but it still loops and says something about a hardware error and to type "show test 1". Could th management/supervisor card be bad? If so, could I get a new one and how much would it be?
Thanks in advance!

most likely the supervisor is bad , if you have pulled all the other cards . The onlything to try is reseating any ram chips on the supervisor and see if that helps , otherwise the Sup is toast .

Ok I tried yanking out each RAM stick individually. When I take the second one out it has the same problem. When I take the first one out it goes to the boot> prompt and it doesn't cycle through or anything, so that's a good sign...I think.
So does this mean that the first stick is bad, but has to IOS?
If so is there a simple way for me to copy the IOS from the first stick to the second stick?
NOTE: Each stick and slot is a different size, so does it matter which stick the IOS goes on? Is one flash and one RAM? or one VRAM and one NVRAM or something?
Thanks for the help,
Chaz

OK! Here is the output I get when I remove the (What I now know to be the) flash stick and run the tests:
Everything seems to be working fine. Is there anyway this switch can be operational without the use of a flash stick and/or the IOS? Because now for the first time all the lights are green on all the cards. Before I would get an orange management and red ethernets. All are green, so is there a way to use this switch without the flash stick and the IOS? If not, can I buy a flash stick (the same model of course) and transfer the IOS onto the new stick?
Thanks,
Chaz
