Question re. voice compression modules.

I am upgrading my phone system from Partner II to IP Office (with ip403 base module). My question is:
I will want to connect two IP phones via VPN to our new system, where is the least expensive place to buy IP4620 phones and 5 channel compression module. I had quote for VCM as high as $2000.
Are there any cheaper alternatives?

The NPL for the 5 VCM is $2,583.00 I have seen it drop to around $1800 but it is such a new product there are not used ones on the market yet! I do not know of any other source other than an authorized dealer. Good luck in your search

There are no real alternatives. The Product is in high demand with limited supply so new is the only market to go. With time the prices will decrease. You will require a VCM module either way you go, but a less costly alterative to the 4620 IP Phones (by the way the 4620's are not yet supported on the IP Office, but will likely be in the next release due out in late Spring) would be use IP Phone Manager Pro (IP Softphone). They work great and don't require a hardware VPN device at the remote site as VPN client software could be used. But the user will have to get used to using a headset (which I personally perfer to the handset), but I have used the softphone for over a month now and like the added functionality it gives me.

Or go with a smaller IP Phone like the 4602 Listing at $195US. But there is no alteratives for the VCM itself, but remember this module will not only allow remote users to use IP phones to connect the main IP Office, but will also allow you to connect remote IP Offices and Definity's together as well.
