I'm using Word 2002 and my document starts out:

Title Page
Table of Contents (3 pages)
Text

I would like to start my page numbering on the first page of text, showing it as page 1.

How can I get Word to totally ignore the Title Page and Table of Contents (4 pages, total) and begin page numbering on the first page of text, showing it as page 1?

TIA,

Must insert a next-page section break at the end of your TOC.

Then, open header/footer in text section.
Make sure header/footer does not read *same as previous* by clicking that option off.
Then, on page you want as page 1, hit the # sign button, select the page number that appears. Hit the # sign button with the hand on it. Tell it to Start at 1.
