I work for a LARGE supplier of SCO UNIX (version 5.0.4 - 5.0.6 currently deployed) and was wondering what (if any) System Monitoring tools the group has had good luck with.

I am primarily concerned with TCP/IP and Serial Port Traffic monitoring and terminal and spooler monitoring.

These tools should be based on the concept of Commandline use (No XWindows or GUI) and should give easily digestible output so the techs can understand the output with limited "in the books time"

Any ideas?

Sarcheck ( Very good package reasonably priced.

Sarcheck takes the standard, but crytic, files output by sar and does a good job of translating the results into readable 'english' summaries and recomendations.

AND it does not make tuning changes on the fly like some packages (IE Olmpus) that can and do cause problems, leaving a person to either impliment changes or ignore them and perhaps continue to watch the situation. Pat Welch, UBB Computer Services
