question on shared variables

Friends I have a small question on shared variables, I know how to pass them from sub report to meain report. I was just wondering when to use reset formula, do i always need to use it?.

GH i have subreport, GHa i have shared variable placed.Its working fine now, but would like to know when i hsould use reset formual. Thanks so much

If the subreport sometimes doesn't return a value, you need a reset so that the previous value from the sub doesn't carry forward and display in place of the null value. If you have a sub in GH_b, you should be referencing it in GH_c, with a reset in GH_a (or it could be in a GF section).
