Question on OPENVIEW

Here is a question on OPENVIEW.

At what scale does it make sense to use it. I have a relitivly small shop with two locations (one being a CO-Location). I have about 40 Servers and 10 Network devices. From what I understand OPENVIEW is really for very large operations, does it make sense technically and finacially in a small environment.

For a smaller environment, i'd say it's really not worth the financial investment, much less the headache associated with trying to learn how it works. we've got an enironvment of about 15 servers and 50 network devices, and it doesn't get a lot of use here.

Depending what you need it for, you can either use Big Brother (

for status monitoring, or MRTG (

http://www.mrtg.com)

for statistical anaylsis and trend monitoring. They're both free and a lot easier to setup.
