does this system have a VPN embedded client ip phone? or do you need to have a vpn established to connect to the main unit? A friend of mine is buying this system and the sales rep is telling him that all he needs to do is plug the phone in and it connects however I am telling him that he needs a vpn to be established first.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

We usually set up a VPN for the voice LAN. This will isolate it from any broadcast traffic over their data LAN.
