Question on Maxtor Hard Drive.

I have a Maxtor 6Y160P0. It works fine so far, but I can't get any SMART info from it. I ran "PowerMax" diags from Maxtor and it checked OK. Any SMART diagnostics I try show "blank" on this drive. My other HDD (60 gig IC35L060AVVA07-0) shows all readings OK.

I think this question is one for Maxtor Technical, it may just be an anomoly with this particular range but unless anyone else has had this particular problem? Maxtor are best equipt to answer it.

1. I can't find any way to contact Maxtor about this. They have return sites and download sites, but no Tech question and answer site.
2. Smartdrive is turned on for both drives. My secondary drive is OK.

Try a google search. I tried maxtor service and came up with several hits.

Been to all the Maxtor sites. The problem is that there is no listing for my problem and no way to actually contact Maxtor to ask then!
