I work on a military base and we have our own 911 service. 911 is programmed as an SPN so in fact, when someone dials 911, the call is routed to a DN on a 2616. This works great for all 911 calls coming in from locals on our PBX.

The problem is the calls coming in on our DID route. We are also the first line response for a few small villages surrounding the base. When someone dials 911, they are routed to a primary 911 call center which in turns, tranfers the call on base. The problem is that all the information in reference to the call has to be passed along verbaly.

This being said, my plan is to get 2 dedicted lines from the 911 Centrex DMS and hook them up to a M2250 console along with a terminal connected the the 911 database so that the information associated with the i/c number will popup on a screen. I also want all 911 calls coming from DN's on our PBX to terminate on the same console.

Can this be done? I need advice...

Thanks in advance.

The answer is "depends" There are several things to consider, what kind of trunks are you talking about, are they tandem trunks? If not, how will you pass the ANI and ALI info. You might want to check with a "911" answer provider such as Plant Equip. There are also other answers to your question, Meridian has a "911" product, so you might want to check with them.

Thanks JJhere. I will check with Nortel first for their Meridian 911 product and go from there.

Cheers.
