I am interested in using Cisco's 11000 series switches for one of our applications and was hoping to find answer to a few questions.
The aim is to be able to configure the switches to examine cookies and set some info in the http headers so that when the servers get the web request they can read the headers and serve the appropriate page. Now this is different from cookie based switching in that, the
logic to examine the cookie invloves decryting ( the cookie has a 3-DES encrypted data) and also to do some validation based on timestamps and the value of the cookie. My question is with a Layer-7 switch is it possible to
hook up custom code to do the necessary operations outlined above ? Or does the switch only support configuration using inbuilt software code ?

I have to confess that I do not know much about switches and so would greatly appreciate it if any of you could provide more details and answers to these questions.

thanks in advance.

Holycrap. That is the most technical post I've seen here. I think you're going to have to go to the horse on this one and speak to a Cisco sales engineer. You're talking about a very specialized procedure on uncommon equipment. If I may ask what is the goal of this? Corporate portal access or possibly just another layer of security for commerce protection?
