Hi, using IDCS3 on winxp.

When creating pdf's, cannot embed some fonts (says"this font could not be embedded due to restrictions in the font...)

elsewhere I read that you cannot overide this.

only solution: create outlines from Type->create outlines (but then text not editable)

question: 1) is there a way to over-ride this 2)does the quality of the output goes down when outlines created? 3) Is it possible to make the text editable after outlines created aside from making a copy of the file and keeping one original.

Thanks.

1) yes, but you need a font creation program to achieve, like Fontographer

2) outline is fine for output, although it does look slightly fatter imaged on a high end device if you were to compare the same font side by side.

3) no, once outlined always outlined, the other method is to select type > create outlines, holding the alt/option key which will make a copy directly on top, this can be useful for comparison to see that outlining has done it's job well enough. Be careful with bulleted or numbered lists, as they don't like being outlined, you lose the bullets and numbers created by this feature.

...i would do find font and replace to one that will embed, so further down the line you don't run into major problems...
