Can I program intercom keys, answer DNs, target lines on an Expansion Module for IP sets on a BCM 50 with 1140E sets. Also am I limited to only 18 buttons. The book say you can have up to 36 buttons using the shift key, but I do not thing the shift key work on BCM 50. Thank you.

Lines, internal/external autodials, Features, and Target lines, yes. All the others no.
It basically works like the add-on modules for the old M7324's.
I believe only the CS1K supports the shift function.

Thanks supportdude, I have a customer with 1140E set that wants to answer several target lines and wants to have 3 line appearance for each target line. I tried to move lines from the set to the Expansion using F*81, and the system kept saying invalid location. Is there a way I can program at least 12 target lines on this set that has Expansion Module. Thank you again.

Yes.
You need to configure that set as a CAP (Central Answering Position) in configuration.
Assuming you have BCM50r3.0 ...
Go to Configuration>Telephony>Global Settings>CAP Assignment and input the DN of the set with the expansion module. This will allow you to place lines on the expansion.
