Hi there,

This is my first question so hope someone can help
And, this is probably a ridiculus question.

I'm new to reporting services and would like to ask a question about deployment.

I've not worked much in a commercial environment. Most work I've done with reporting services has just been from home.

Anyway, There is already reports in my place of work and they are located at:

*http...reports01/Reports/Pages/Folder....

I'm a little confused where I put the actual reports. The solution files are in a location that I'm sure is seperate from the reports.

Given that address (and I feel really silly asking this) How would I navigate to the reports.?

I'm sure I'm the only person that doesn't know the answer to this.

Thanks

You have solution files either on your pc or on a LAN

The reports are deployed to the Report Server which sits on a SQL Server database

You access the reports using the report manager which is where the "http...reports01/Reports/Pages/Folder" comes in - this references tables in the ReportServer database to show you the properties of the reports and allows you to view the results rendered in html

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

On the report server, you only deploy the rdl files, none of the other files. You can create new folders on the server to put the reports as well, so you can set the access to only let certain people see them.

I hope that helps!
