Is /etc/sysconfig/static-routes the only file to place your default static route? (to make it permanent)

If so, what is the syntax for a default route in that file?

thanks!

Depends on your OS version in version RedHat8 you setup in
/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/eth0.route and the syntax looks like this.

ADDRESS0=10.1.1.0
NETMASK0=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY0=10.133.254.254

older versions 7.3 it is static-routes
eth1 net 10.133.0.0 netmask 255.255.0.0 gw 10.133.254.254

Hope this helps.
