Hello,
I've currently got a (non-wireless) Vigor ADSL router which I use for internet access (It acts as my LAN DHCP server as well as a NAT'ing router for internet traffic). I'm trying to configure a 3Com OC Wireless 11g Cable/DSL Gateway (3CRWE554G72T-ME) to sit behind this and act as a simple wireless access point for wireless connections to my home network and the internet (or a second router if necessary). I can connect wirelessly to the 3COM router but I'm not seeing either the internet or the rest of the network.
Is what I'm trying to do possible with this 3Com router?
Do I connect my ADSL router to the 3COM DSL/Cable uplink port or simply to one of the 4 "switch" ports as essentially I just want it to act as a switch/Access Point and not a router?
Do I disable DHCP on the 3COM router or put it on a separate subnet and allow it to act as a DHCP server for wireless connections?
If I put it on a separate subnet do I then need to setup static routes to route traffic to my local LAN and then onto the internet?
How do I go about configuring all this?
Help - I'm beginning to wonder if I've got the right piece of kit for the job!
Thanks in advance,
Alex
