Hi All,

Question: I have an autonumber column followed by a varchar field. This varchar is a 2 character alpha to be followed by the autonumber id.

Is there a way I can set this as default when creating the table?

If not, what would be the recommnended approach?

I don't think you can default it in the table definition. Putting the autonumber in another field is denormalizing your data. Why not contatenate them at query time? I would create a view, but I don't know if that's an option for you.

Will concatenate...didn't think it was possible, but the boss wanted me to check. As denormalizing, i know, but the boss wants it that way.

Thanks
