I'm learning Crystal report on my own because the non-profit organiztion which needs applications using Crystal Report can not afford to send me to the $800+ classes and I'm not position either. So I have to come to a place where the knowledge is.

Now, in a report I have copied and changing has a group field in the detail section as well as in the group section.
The field is Behind another field. What purpose does this serve? I'm only use to have the detail in the detail, not another section's field in the detail. If someone in position to answer this question please let me know.
Sorry to use this valuable service for to purpose, but I have picked up a lot of information from here.

It's hard to understand why they're displaying a group there, it might be that they simply want to display that field, and selected the group field name to do so.

Rather than describing something you don't understand, try posting technical information about your requirement:

Crystal version
Database connectivity used
Example data
Expected output

-k

I'd use Save As to make a spare version. Then remove the field that seems to be doing nothing, and find out if it actually has a function.

I have some reports with fields "hidden" behind other fields. I will conditionally suppress both fields so that only one of the fields will appear at any given time. For example, if sales are >= 1,000 I can display a thumbs up and if sales are < 1,000 display a thumbs down.

I would suggest you check the fields to see if they are conditioned to suppress. To do this right mouse click on the field, select the common tab and click on the X-2 button next to the suppress option.
