When windows 98 was my OS I would periodically reinstall the OS to refresh things. I don't mean I reformated or anything just reinstalled it over itself to refresh system files and things. I now use windows 2000 and years ago I tried doing the same thing but it ended in failure and I had to reformat and start over.

Is it possible to do this with the 2K OS and if so how. I have installed any uninstalled alot of programs lately testing them out and a reinstall of OS would be great if possible.

Thanks,

It's kinda pointless - even with 9x. The registry is where all the important settings and registration information is kept for most programs and a reinstall without formatting does NOT reset that. If you have something corrupt in there - unless it's hardware related - it's not going to do anything. I reinstall (from scratch) my system every 9-18 months to clean it out. That's what I'd recommend. So you just need to keep copies of any software you buy online and download as well as any software you buy in a store.
