Hi all,

If i do DTS from one database to another database which has same data structure table structure and fields are also same so would it overwrite it or append the data from first database to second databse

if it is overwriting then how would i make to append?

Thanks

Hi
the data gets appended - in order to overwrite you'd have to clear the "receiving" table of data first

i always used the designer (i find wizards irritating!) and it seemed to default to appending mode, or at any rate i never noticed an overwriting mode.

apologies to nowayout if my post was misleading, or whatever.

Sorry LFCfan I was actually asking nowayout if he was using the wizard. Incidentally you can overwrite if you are using the wizard, you click the transform button when you have specified the source and destination tables and you can either select the radio button to append or delete records in the destination table.
