Its a pretty simple question but still i have a doubt in it..When i drag a field in the detail.I dont see it in preview .Y? That field contain values ,i have seen it in the field explorer.If i am dragging the EMPID ,In preview not only the value but also the word field 'EMPID' is not displayed.

What report section are you placing the fields in? Try adding the fields in design mode and make sure they are in the detail section. Then also make sure you aren't just 'seeing' nulls by going into the section expert->details->suppress blank section or by paging to the end of the report.
Otherwise, you might try going to database->verify database.
