I went on an interview for a CUCM Admin position. I thought I did well but got stumped on a question. I do not have much router experience, and didn't think this specific job required it. But they asked if I knew how to see on the router if, for example, you would troubleshoot how an incoming call on a PRI was coming into your circuit/router...but not going correctly to the phone.

Is there a command to trace an incoming call on a channel? Any help would be appreciated. :)

Think I answered myself. After some digging...

debug isdn q931

Turning on term mon and that command gives me some great insight to where the call coming in goes to.

What doc did you find that info in? I would like to read up on it. Typically, our Telephony people aren't allowed access to the routers/gateways/switches. If this is something that would be 'required' then, I would like to document it and see if access can be granted.

no matter where you go, there you are.
"This participation is personal and does not represent the United States Census Bureau." They make me say this.

I just kept googling "troubleshooting inbound PRI" and then stumbled on some debug commands. Which lead me to the debug isdn q931 command. It wouldn't show anything at first...but then found I needed to turn on "Terminal monitoring".

Once I did that it showed me real time monitoring of inbound calls to the PRI circuit. Caller ID and called ID were showed along with a bunch of other stuff. Sorry like I said, I do not have much experience with routers, so I cannot speak to what access level it can be granted on. But is very useful if Teleco is claiming they are "sending correct digits" and other claims they make lol.

Yes, I would use that command as well because it first tells me whether the call is at least coming into the PRI. Then I can go from there.
