In one of your responses to me you replied (in regards to running a cable for my smdr):

"ATT/Lucent/Avaya 355-A or 355-AF adapter will take you from the 8-pin port on the Partner to a DB-25 serial connector."

I will need to run a 25 pin cable for 150 feet? Can I use an adapter to run a cable as small as a phone line? If so, what kind of cable and adapters do I need? will the adapters work so I will not have to mess with any wires?

Sorry for so many questions but I am new to this.

Run a 4-pair Cat-5 from the Control Unit to where your SMDR terminal will be located. Put a 568-B jack on each end. Use a patch cord to go from the SMDR port on the Control Unit to the jack there, and another at the other end into the 355-A adapter.

If you have a maintenance contract for your equipment I beleieve you also need an ADU to protect the partner. Unless you can have the SMDR printer's AC outlet to work off the same circuit as the partner is plugged into. Otherwise if there is a potential difference between the 2 outlets your partner will have it's lifespan shortened. It is much easier to just walk over to the phone closet to get your printout.
